Best personal trainer software for independent coaches
Six tools, what each one is genuinely best at, and what they cost in 2026. No numbered ranking and no overall winner — because the right choice depends on how much of a platform you actually use.
Read this first: we're on this list
This is written by the team behind TrainerCheck, which is one of the six tools below. You should weigh that accordingly.
What we've done to keep it useful anyway: every price comes from the vendor's own public pricing page in July 2026, not from third-party roundups. There's no #1, because putting ourselves there would be worthless to you. Each entry says where that tool beats us — including the two that are free for small rosters, which TrainerCheck isn't.
How to actually choose
Almost every coaching tool sells the same feature list, so comparing features gets you nowhere. One question sorts it faster:
In a normal week, how much of the platform do you open?
If your clients genuinely train from programs inside an app, you write their nutrition, and you bill through the same system, a full platform earns its price and you should buy the best one. If your training actually lives in Google Sheets, Notion, a PDF or on the gym floor — and you open the platform mainly to see who checked in and who's gone quiet — then most of what you're paying for sits unused, and a focused tool covers the part you use.
The second question is how your bill behaves when you grow. Some tools charge by client count, so success raises your costs; others are flat. Neither is wrong, but it's worth knowing which you're signing up for.
Trainerize (ABC Trainerize)
Free for 1 client · $9/mo for 2 · from $23/mo for 5–200 · from $248/mo studio · 30-day trial, no card
The most established name here, and the one with the widest integration ecosystem. It scales from a single free client all the way to multi-location studios, which is why so many coaches start on it and never leave.
A genuine permanent free tier — 1 client, no card, not a trial.
Scales further than anything else on this list, up to studio and enterprise use.
Price climbs with your client count, so growing your roster grows your bill.
It's a lot of product. If you use a quarter of it, you're still paying for all of it.
TrueCoach
$26.34/mo up to 5 clients · $57.99/mo up to 20 · $136.99/mo up to 50 · custom above 50 · 14-day trial, no card
Well-liked, focused, and less sprawling than the all-in-one platforms. If what you want is to write programs and talk to clients about them without wading through modules you'll never touch, it's a clean choice.
Tight, uncluttered experience — it does programming and client communication well.
Straightforward pricing you can read in ten seconds.
Hard client caps mean the bill jumps at 5, 20 and 50 rather than rising gently.
No free tier — the cheapest way in is $26.34/month.
Everfit
Free for 5 clients · Pro from $19/mo, scaling per client · Studio from $105/mo · add-on modules priced separately
The most generous free tier on this list by some distance — five clients, permanently, at no cost. For a coach with a handful of clients this is very hard to argue against, including against us.
Free for up to 5 clients, which covers a genuine side-hustle roster.
Modern, polished interface with a strong client-facing app.
The headline price isn't the real price: Pro scales per client, and automation (Autoflow, from $29/mo), meal plans ($39/mo), on-demand content (from $25/mo) and payments (from $9/mo) are separate add-ons.
If check-in automation is the reason you're shopping, that's the paid module rather than the base plan.
My PT Hub
Starter £20/mo for 3 clients · Premium £59/mo unlimited · Ultimate £199/mo · 30-day trial, no card
The one platform here that gives you unlimited clients without per-client scaling. At £59/month you get workouts, nutrition, custom branding and payments with no cap on roster size, which is a lot of software on one predictable bill.
Unlimited clients on Premium — growing your roster never changes the price.
Full feature set including nutrition and white-label branding.
30-day free trial with no card, the longest here.
Big jump between tiers: the £20 Starter stops at 3 clients, so realistically it's £59.
You're buying a whole platform — good value if you use it, expensive if you don't.
1FIT
Basic £40/mo up to 10 clients · Growth £60/mo up to 10 · Scale £175/mo up to 75 · £4/client/mo beyond each cap · Enterprise £295/mo (£250 annual) unlimited · free trial
The newest platform here, founded in 2023, pitched at coaches who want client management, nutrition, communication, payments and business admin under one login. Prices in pounds, which makes it easier to reason about if you're UK-based.
Genuinely all-in-one — business operations and payments sit alongside the coaching features.
Priced in GBP, so UK coaches aren't guessing at exchange rates.
£4 per client per month above your plan's allowance, so your bill grows every time you sign someone.
Unlimited clients only on Enterprise at £250–295/month — the most expensive route to "no caps" on this list.
Newer and smaller than the established names here, with less of a track record.
TrainerCheck
£25/mo flat, unlimited clients · no add-ons · 14-day trial, no card
Ours, and deliberately the narrowest tool here. It automates the weekly check-in loop — sending, chasing non-responders, progress charts, monthly client recaps — and does nothing else. It's the right answer for a specific coach and the wrong one for everybody else.
Flat £25/month with unlimited clients and no modules to add on.
Clients install nothing — they tap a link and fill in a form in any browser.
Automation is the product, not an upsell.
No program builder, no exercise library, no nutrition planning, no payments. If you need those, buy a platform.
No free tier — if you coach five clients or fewer, Everfit's free plan costs you nothing and does more.

Prices taken from each vendor's own pricing page in July 2026, billed monthly; annual billing is cheaper on most, though 1FIT only publishes an annual rate for Enterprise. Trainerize, TrueCoach and Everfit price in USD, My PT Hub, 1FIT and TrainerCheck in GBP, so cross-currency comparisons move with the exchange rate. Add-on modules are excluded. Always check the vendor's site before buying.

Common questions
What is the best personal trainer software for solo coaches?
There isn't one answer, because solo coaches work differently. If you deliver programs inside an app, Trainerize or TrueCoach fit best. If you want to start at no cost, Everfit is free for 5 clients and Trainerize is free for 1. If you want a full platform with unlimited clients on a predictable bill, My PT Hub Premium is £59/month, and 1FIT covers payments and business admin in the same login from £40/month. If you deliver training your own way and only need the weekly check-in loop automated, TrainerCheck is £25/month with unlimited clients. Pick based on how much of a platform you actually open in a normal week.
What is the cheapest personal trainer software?
For a very small roster, free: Everfit's Starter plan covers 5 clients at no cost and Trainerize's Basic plan covers 1. Among paid plans as listed in July 2026, entry prices are Trainerize $9/month for 2 clients, Everfit Pro from $19/month, My PT Hub Starter £20/month for 3 clients, TrueCoach $26.34/month for 5, and 1FIT £40/month for 10 plus £4 per client beyond that. For unlimited clients the cheapest is TrainerCheck at £25/month, though it only does check-ins rather than full coaching platform features.
Is there free personal trainer software?
Yes, with client limits. Everfit's Starter plan is permanently free for up to 5 clients, and Trainerize's Basic plan is permanently free for 1 client with no card required. Both are real free tiers rather than trials. Most other platforms offer a free trial instead — TrueCoach 14 days, My PT Hub 30 days, TrainerCheck 14 days.
Do I need a full coaching platform?
Only if you use it. A full platform earns its price when clients genuinely train from programs in its app, you write nutrition plans in it, or you bill through it. Many independent coaches keep training in spreadsheets, Notion or PDFs and open the platform only for the weekly accountability loop — in that case most of what they pay for goes unused, and a focused check-in tool covers the part they actually need.
How was this list put together?
It's written by the team behind TrainerCheck, which is one of the six tools listed, and it says so at the top. Prices were taken from each vendor's own public pricing page in July 2026 rather than from third-party roundups. There is no numbered ranking and no overall winner, because the right pick depends on how you coach — each entry lists what that tool is genuinely best at and where it falls short, including TrainerCheck.
